Hand Grenade Brought to Orlando Station

A bomb squad had to blow up a live hand grenade Thursday in Orlando. Investigators were so concerned when it was brought to the police station by an elderly woman that they evacuated the area around Silver Star Road near Willow Bend Boulevard.

An unexpected and potentially explosive delivery shut down the Orlando Police Department’s northwest community substation. The live grenade also prompted a call to the city’s arson bomb squad and forced the evacuation of area businesses.
